TEAM SCOUT

Getting Started

Everything you need to get up and running with Team Scout.

1. Create Your Account

Getting started with Team Scout takes less than two minutes. You can sign up through the mobile app or the web portal.

  1. Download the app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). You can also visit the web portal at teamscout.co.
  2. Enter your phone number. We use phone-based authentication for security and simplicity. No passwords to remember.
  3. Check your messages for a 6-digit code. Enter it in the app to verify your number.
  4. Create your profile. Add your name, a profile photo, and any other details your team may need. Your display name is how coaches and other parents will see you.

Once your profile is set up, you are ready to join a team and start using Team Scout. Your phone number is your login — no email or password needed.

2. Join Your Team

Most parents join a team through an invite link shared by their coach or team admin. There are two ways to join:

  1. Accept an invite link. Your coach or admin will send you a link via text, email, or your team's group chat. Tap the link, and you will be taken directly to the team in the app.
  2. Search and request to join. Open the app, go to the Groups tab, and tap Search. Find your team by name and send a join request. Your admin will approve you.

Once you have joined, you will see the team's feed, roster, events, and any available registration forms. If you are part of multiple teams (for example, siblings on different teams), you can switch between them easily.

4. Set Up Notifications

Notifications keep you informed about announcements, messages, registration deadlines, and payment reminders. Here is how to make sure you do not miss anything:

  1. Enable push notifications. When the app first asks for notification permission, tap Allow. If you missed this, go to your phone's Settings, find Team Scout, and enable Notifications.
  2. Customize per-group levels. Open any team, tap the settings icon, and choose your notification level: All Activity (every post and message), Coaches & Mentions (coach and admin posts plus @mentions), @Mentions Only, or Muted (direct @mentions still come through).
  3. Check in-app preferences. Go to Profile, then Notification Preferences. You can toggle notification types like New Messages, Announcements, and Event Reminders individually.

We recommend keeping Announcements enabled at minimum — that is what coaches and admins use for time-sensitive information. Payment and registration alerts are always delivered, so you can never accidentally turn those off.
