Racers lined up at the start hut before a run

Central Region 1

Race day

From the notice to the start list

Every race follows the same path: the race notice, the team captains' meeting the night before, then the final information and the race-day groups.

How a race weekend runs

  1. Race week

    The race notice

Each race is announced by program (scored, non-scored or FIS) with its preliminary schedule, the chief of race and the venue's notes. Entries close on SkiReg Tuesday night.

  2. The night before

    The team captains' meeting

Coaches and officials meet (by Zoom for CR1-run races) to settle the schedule, the start lists and the medical plan.

  3. After the meeting

    Final information

Schedules, athlete lists, the medical plan and first-run start lists go up in the team captains' Drive folder. Scored and non-scored races get them in Telegram too.

  4. Race day

    Telegram and WhatsApp

Telegram is the main channel on race day: schedule changes, general information and start lists for later runs. FIS races use WhatsApp.

On the hill

Live results are on U.S. Ski & Snowboard live timing during the race, where the timing crew's feed goes; it depends on the host site's cell reception. Final results post to each athlete's MyUSSA portal once they are submitted.

Region 1 races follow the U.S. Ski & Snowboard alpine competition guide.

Races are not possible without parents

Volunteer positions include many that need no training. Sign up early so the race can be planned.
