Central Region 1

Join a club

Your first step into ski racing

Ski racing in Region 1 is powered by a network of independent clubs. Athletes join a club for coaching, practices and a local community; Region 1 runs the races.

Eight clubs

Every club, its home hill and its contact

Each club links to its own website, its home hill and the best way to reach it.

Questions new families ask first

How do I choose a club?

Most families choose by distance from home or where they already hold a season pass. Every club races in Region 1. Each has its own hill, culture and training schedule; if you are unsure, reach out to the contact listed. Most clubs are happy to host a trial night early in the season.

Does my child need to be an expert skier?

Most clubs require that children can safely navigate blue terrain and ride a chairlift independently before joining a race program. They do not need to be fast yet. That is what the coaches are for.

When do I need to register?

Club registration typically opens in late summer (August or September) and closes in November. Many clubs offer dryland (off-snow) training starting in October to help kids get fit for the season.

What is the difference between a club and Region 1?

Think of the club as your local team, where you pay for coaching and practice, and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Region 1 as the league, where you register to compete in official races. You need memberships in both to take part in the full race season.

What membership does my racer need?

A U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership, renewed each season in your MyUSSA account. Your Central Division and Region 1 fees are collected in the same cart. Memberships are due October 15; a late fee starts October 16.
